The
agreement will see the Midland League Premier Division side play their home
league and cup matches at Greenwich Avenue next season, after unfortunately
being evicted from their ground by the landowner who plans to build houses on
the site.
This
will not impact either club`s fixtures, as when we play at home they will be
scheduled in for an away fixture and vice versa.
Newark
chairman Gary Clarke said: “We would like to publicly thank Basford United for
allocating this move for us, they have been absolutely fantastic in every way.
“Basford
have always set the benchmark for us and we will enjoy using their fantastic
and ever improving facilities, we also look forward to working alongside
everyone at the club and wish them all the best for the season ahead.
“The
agreement secures the continuation of the football club at step five and gives
us valuable time to engage with local councillors to negotiate options to find
a new home in Newark to relocate and build the club at the heart of the
community where it belongs.”
Basford
chairman Chris Munroe added: “I would like on behalf of Basford United to
formally welcome all connected with Newark FC to Greenwich Avenue and I have no
doubt we will provide a superb venue for all its fans, players and officials”. |
