The versatile, Costa, has briefly played in the NPL previously at Spalding United. However, his mainstay so far in his career was being part of a very successful, young Collingham side which saw him pick up four cup final winners` medals in three seasons with the Central Midlands League North outfit.

Finally, before the season was declared null and void, Costa was on the way to leading Lincolnshire League side Hykeham Town to a potential `treble` with the side being top of the league and in two cup finals.

United manager Sam Wilkinson (pictured) told his club`s website: "I'm really pleased Sid's agreed terms to come to Lincoln United, he's a player I believe is ready to step up. He had a very good season last year with us at Hykeham Town, being an extremely consistent performer.

"There's a few things that stand out for me which allow me to know he's capable at this level. His willingness to win, give 100% and more, in training and games is a big attribute to being successful. He's a leader, very quick, athletic, competitive and aggressive; alongside the fact he's very versatile, he'll be valuable to the squad and another player wanting to step-up develop himself and improve the team. Finally, another local lad and he'll fit into the dressing room that we're trying to build."

Joining Costa at Ashby Avenue is Simon Biggs.

The defender brings agility, strength, pace, aerial prowess as well as competence in possession.

Having started at Lincoln City within the academy set-up, Biggs is no stranger to winning.

Having spent a large proportion of his playing time at Collingham, Biggs has been involved in many trophy winning squads and was well on his way to being involved in another before last season was cut short.

Like Costa, Biggs moves across from Hykeham and Wilkinson said: "Delighted that Biggsy has agreed to join Lincoln United, he's a player I worked with at Hykeham Town last season.

“At Hykeham, he stood out for a number of reasons; he's very athletic, physically strong, very determined and enjoys defending, whilst also being very comfortable on the ball.

"His attitude and willingness to listen, learn and improve are as good as I've worked with whilst in management and he ticks every box for me. His performances in big games at the level last season showed me he's good enough but more importantly, has the right mentality to step up to the level, albeit a big step. I think he's ready and I believe he will have a big part to play in our future success".
