A
player who has come on in leaps and bounds since joining Worthing`s youth team,
the now 21-year-old finally got a taste of first team action in late November
2015.
This
was followed by a couple more cameos off the bench before a full and assured
first start at Whyteleafe in April 2016.
A
versatile defender or midfielder with Sussex under-18s, Sussex Schools, England
Schools and England Colleges representative honours, he was handed the
captain’s armband for the first time at Lowestoft Town at the start of the
2017/18 season.
He
has made 17 appearances this season, starting 7 of those.
Edwards
re-joins former Rebels` team-mate Ben Mendoza at Nyewood Lane, the 23-year-old
having made the same switch a few days ago.
Mendoza (pictured) signed for Worthing in July, returning to his Sussex roots where he grew up in
Chichester after being on a football scholarship in the USA at the University
of Rio Grande.
He
can play on the wing or through the middle of the pitch and won the Isthmian
Under-18 League with Bognor before departing for the States and was one of only
five players to be placed on The River States Conference Men’s Soccer
Scholar-Athlete team last year. |
