The 30-year-old started his career coming through the Watford youth set-up before joining London Tigers. It was from here he had his first spell with current club Hayes & Yeading before joining South East London side Hampton & Richmond Borough. In July 2013 he swapped England for Libya where he joined Libyan Premier League outfit Al-Ahli Benghazi for three years where he featured in the Central African Federation (CAF) Champions League before returning to England to play for Staines Town where he scored 42 goals in 89 appearances. He signed for Braintree Town in the summer of 2018 before joining Barnet a couple of months later having scored 6 in 15 games with the Iron. He was loaned out twice during his spell at Barnet to Welling United and Hemel Hempstead Town before he joined Aldershot Town in October 2019. He went on to score 14 times in 74 appearances for the Shots across three seasons with his final season at Aldershot including a short loan spell with Maidstone United. After leaving Aldershot, Bettamer joined his former club Hayes & Yeading for his second stint. In the 2022/23 campaign he was loaned out to Concord Rangers where he enjoyed a successful spell with the Beachboys, scoring 7 goals in 18 starts, including the opener against the Clarets last season in the game that Chelmsford ran out 2-1 winners in Canvey. Bettamer has represented the Libyan National side from under-18 through to the senior team where he made his debut in November 2020, scoring in a 3-2 defeat to Equatorial Guinea in an African Cup of Nations Qualification fixture Manager Robbie Simpson told https://chelmsfordcityfc.com: “Mo is someone who we actually spoke to last summer and we were very interested in him then. Quite simply he got offered a two-year deal that financially he couldn’t turn down from Hayes & Yeading. For whatever reason, whether that be the travel or the level, it didn’t quite work out at Hayes & Yeading and he ended up going out on loan to Concord Rangers last season and he did very well in a struggling team. He scored 7 in 18 starts for them last season, which was a decent return. He’s a player who likes the ball into his feet, his hold up play is very good, he’s got a powerful shot with both feet and like you saw against us he can score headed goals from crosses. “We’re looking forward to Mo joining us and being a bit of a leader at the top end of the pitch with his presence and his experience and hopefully he will manage to score a lot of goals for us”.
