The 22-year-old, who has joined from Whickham, is a player the manager knows well, as he signed him for the Highwaymen back in October 2021. He repaid his faith by scoring 9 goals in 18 games in the remainder of the 2021/22 season, and has maintained his goalscoring form this time round, with 14 in 20 games. Greenwood is a pacey attacker who has bags of confidence and loves to have the ball at his feet. He was at Sunderland academy as a youngster and signed a professional contract with the Black Cats, becoming a regular in Premier League 2. After being released he had a spell at Seaham Red Star before linking up with Fawcett at Whickham. Fawcett told https://consettafc.com: “I love Nathan, he is a tricky player with the ball, he’s quick, he’s direct, he will score goals, create chances and complement the team massively. “He’s not just a wide player, he can play as a No 10 or up front, he’s an out and out attacker, and I think he will take the step up in his stride. “I’d like to thank Whickham for their help in getting the signing across the line, and I think our fans will love him.” Meanwhile, Consett have accepted an offer from Ebac Northern League First Division side Ashington for midfielder Lewis Green, who was recently placed on the transfer list at his own request. Green scored 4 goals in 56 appearances for the club over two spells.
